Winner of over 100 international awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, it has been performed in over 100 cities across 16 countries and translated into six languages. Seen by over 70 million people worldwide, it has generated more than $6 billion in global sales.
In North America, Wicked has enjoyed record-breaking runs in Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, as well as two tours. The musical tells the untold story of the Land of Oz, following the green-skinned Elphaba and her unlikely friendship with Glinda. Featuring hits like “Defying Gravity,” “Popular,” and “For Good,” it has been praised as “the defining musical of the decade.”
Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel, Wicked features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, direction by Tony winner Joe Mantello, and musical staging by Tony winner Wayne Cilento. A blockbuster film adaptation premiered on November 22, 2024.
