About
Dansehallerne’s mission is to advance dance and choreography in Denmark and beyond through four key areas:
Audience Enhancement: Expand reach and engagement by presenting diverse national and international performances, creating innovative formats for feedback, and actively involving children and youth through programs like KORA.
Coordinated Collaborations: Strengthen the dance ecosystem by partnering with cultural institutions, supporting emerging artists, and participating in co-productions to ensure high-quality, widely experienced performances.
Internationalization: Promote global exchange and recognition through international productions, co-productions like TURBO GEN, and participation in networks and online platforms.
Green Transition: Embed sustainability in operations and touring, support environmentally conscious practices, and provide long-term professional development for artists.
Through these missions, Dansehallerne ensures dance remains accessible, innovative, and socially and environmentally responsible.
Dansehallerne, with locations in Copenhagen and Aarhus, is Denmark’s national center for dance and choreography, cultivating a dynamic and sustainable ecosystem locally and globally. We present and co-produce diverse national and international performances, offer professional training, and host workshops, talks, and events. As a meeting point for artists and audiences, we drive artistic development and public engagement while supporting dancers at every stage of their creative process. Committed to diversity, inclusion, and intercultural understanding, we foster collaborations in Denmark and abroad to amplify dance’s impact. Since August 2024, our new Copenhagen home in Carlsberg City—a former boiler room—offers a striking space for choreographic visions, creative networks, and open-hearted encounters.
