REGISTRATION
Online registration opens on November 1. There is a capacity limitation at each audition location, so please register early to ensure your spot. To complete your registration, you will need to upload a photo and proof of age (see details below) and pay the $50 audition fee. Students will receive their audition results by email approximately one week following the audition. There are no refunds of registration fees however if a student is sick on the day of the audition and can provide a doctor’s note, you will be invited to apply by video and your registration fee will be applied towards the video application fee.
On the day of your audition, please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your class to receive your audition number.
Day-of Registration: Due to capacity limitations, we do not expect to be able to accommodate day-of registrations. Please register online in advance.
REQUIRED ITEMS FOR REGISTRATION
Photo: A photo is used to confirm the student’s identity during the audition and to recall a student after the audition has ended. Please submit a current photo that clearly shows the student from the shoulders up. Long hair should be pulled back away from the face. Please do not submit a scan of a passport photo page. Please ensure the photo is of high enough resolution to be identifiable.
Proof of Age: All students must provide proof of their date of birth. When registering online, you will be required to upload a scan of a birth certificate or passport photo page.
ABOUT THE AUDITION
The audition will run just like a ballet class, starting at the barre with exercises from plies to grand battements. Then everyone moves to the center for a variety of combinations from adage to grand allegro. Work your hardest and show that you are listening to and applying the teacher’s instructions and corrections. Please remove all warm-ups before the class begins.
Ages 12–13 should plan to do 1–2 combinations in pointe shoes in center. Ages 14–18 will wear pointe shoes for all of center work. If you have not begun training on pointe yet, please let the staff know at check-in and you will simply participate in flat shoes for the pointe section of class.
Any solid-colored leotard in any style, pink or skin-toned tights with flat/ballet slippers to match, or a tucked-in, fitted shirt, and black, white, or gray shoes and tights.
Please arrive dressed and ready to go. Restrooms are available but changing facilities are limited to the restroom stalls.
VIDEO AUDITIONS
A $75 summer session video audition fee will be charged upon submission. SF Ballet School will only accept electronic online submissions through the video application website, Danceapply, and will not review DVDs or email submissions that are sent to the School, between January 10–February 15, 2026.
