About
EDCM, founded in 1981 by Linda Rabin and Candace Loubert, is Quebec’s first institution dedicated to professional contemporary dance training. Created to merge expressive depth with strong technical grounding, the school drew from modern, somatic, and creative practices inspired by pioneers like Graham, Limón, and Alexander. Over the decades, EDCM has trained more than 400 dancers who now perform worldwide. Now housed in the Wilder‑Espace Danse building, it remains defined by innovation, risk‑taking, and artistic renewal. Guided by renowned faculty and visiting artists, students encounter diverse approaches that shape their unique artistic voices. EDCM’s evolution—from LADMMI to its current identity—reflects its commitment to contemporary dance, supported by visionary leadership and continually expanding programs that respond to the changing landscape of the art form.
