About
My name is Guillermo Gómez Vera, I am a Dietitian-Nutritionist, and Director of GGV Nutrition.
Throughout my life I wanted to unite my two passions: helping people improve their health and sports.
Like many colleagues, I was a frustrated doctor. Until I discovered that there are other ways to help people with their health: by improving the way they eat. And that’s why I graduated in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the Pablo de Olavide University in Seville.
For many years I dealt with thousands of people who wanted to change their diet, not only to lose weight… :
… They wanted to stop being suffocated after climbing a hill
… they wanted to be able to get dressed again without difficulty
… or they wanted to play with their children and grandchildren again without it costing them a lung
In the companies where I worked, we had a rule of selling products that our patients did not need or prescribing diets of vegetables and white fish that they were not going to be able to follow for the rest of their lives. Graduating from the Master’s Degree in Physical Activity and Health at the International University of Andalusia helped me to realize that each patient… :
… it is unique, and needs a personalized guideline
… it needs to be a practical dietary plan, so that it is easy to carry out
… they need a process of food education to maintain the results obtained for the rest of their lives, enjoying gastronomy
In the world of sports, I know first-hand what it’s like to be left off the podium. In my 15 years of experience as a canoeist and coach, I often wondered: what if I had trained differently? What if I had rested more? What if I had eaten better? During all this time I have advised hundreds of amateur and elite athletes to achieve their goals by perfecting their diet. Obtaining the Diploma in Sports Nutrition from the International Olympic Committee allowed me to work with teams of the highest competition such as Real Betis Balompié, Inter Movistar FS among other collaborators.
Today I have the pleasure of working at the CEMTRO Clinic in Madrid, the only FIFA Centre of Excellence in Spain, in its Endocrinology and Sports Nutrition units.
